Eligibility & Residency Verification

Welcome to Kearny Mesa Little League’s 2024 Spring Season! To complete your registration and prepare for the start of the season, please complete the appropriate forms (attached) on the checklists below. Your child will not be placed on a team / allowed on a field without the appropriate forms being completed. If you have any questions, please contact the Registration Committee at [email protected].

KMLL eligibility comes from either living within KMLL boundaries (enter your address at https://www.littleleague.org/play-little-league/league-finder to check) or attending school within the boundaries.

Below are the documents to bring with you to player assessments on January 20, 2024, @ Serra Mesa, fields at Cabrillo Heights Neighborhood Park 8308 Hurlbut St San Diego 92123 (see webpage for league age time slot) or next scheduled registration event.

According to the rules set forth by Little League International®, all players MUST attend a Document Verification event each year and provide the following:

1.     PROOF OF AGE

Original document (no photocopies), such as a birth certificate MUST be presented. Per Little League official rules, passports are NOT an acceptable form of age verification.

2.     PROOF OF RESIDENCY

Little League is organized by boundary maps that determine which League your player is eligible to participate in. A player may become eligible to play for Kearny Mesa Little League (KMLL) in either one of the following two ways.

OPTION #1 - RESIDENCY VERIFICATION

Each year, residence shall be established and supported by documents dated or in force between February 1, 2023, to February 1, 2024. One document is required from each of the three groups listed below.  There are no exceptions.  Must be ORIGINALS only.

  • Residency must be located within league boundaries.
  • Must Provide 3 Forms of Residency Verification (see the document attached)

OPTION #2 - SCHOOL ENROLLMENT WAIVER FORM

If your player attends one of the following schools listed below they may use a School Enrollment Waiver to qualify to play in KMLL:

  • Carson Elementary
  • Chesterton Public Elementary
  • Fletcher Elementary
  • Francis Parker Middle
  • Holy Family Catholic
  • Kavod Charter
  • Linda Vista Elementary
  • Lindbergh/Schweitzer Elementary
  • Montgomery Middle
  • Ross Elementary
  • San Diego Cooperative Charter Schools

You will need to download the School Enrollment Form and have it signed by your School's authorized faculty and returned to KMLL during Assessments/Documentation Day. If you do elect to use the School Enrollment Form, it MUST be signed by the Principal or Vice-Principal.

3.     LITTLE LEAGUE FORMS

We will ask all parents to fill out the following forms at assessments. You may fill them out ahead of time and bring them with you if you desire:

PLAYER VERIFICATION CHECKLIST

  • Bring Birth Certificate (Original document) for age verification
  • Choose either School Verification form OR (3) Residency docs from the group options for residency verification
  • Complete the Medical Release form ahead of time

COMMON QUESTIONS

Do I need to provide proof of residency every year, even if I haven't moved?

Yes, per Little League regulations, every year we need the past year to current year (February 1 to February 1) proof of residency (3 documents). *Players who played in All-Starts last season do not need to provide registration forms as they are current.

If my player is using the school form as proof of residency, do I need to renew this form every year?

No, as long as we have your first form on file. Once your player moves to a new school (e.g., middle school) out of the league's boundaries and the player wants to remain in the league, then a IId Waiver needs to be completed and approved by the District DA.

Do I need to fill out a new Registration Packet every year even if there are no changes from the previous year?

Yes, every season a new Medical Release, Concussion Form, Code of Conduct, and Registration form is needed.

If my player is playing on a IId Waiver, how does this work?

You must submit a IId Waiver if you lived within the league's boundaries and then moved, or changed schools. If you submit a waiver and it's approved by the District DA, a copy is given to the family and a separate copy is kept on file with the league. You then submit this waiver as the Proof of Residency along with the Registration Packet.
