Kearny Mesa 9-11 All-Stars Finish 3rd in District

Kearny Mesa 9-11 All-Stars finished 3rd in District 33 after the winning first two games, defeating North Park 8-5 and Murphy Canyon, in the tournament before falling to the champions, San Carlos (3-0) 8-3, and Rolando (3-2) 11-1. The two wins were the first in over 5 seasons by Kearny Mesa in the All-Star season.

The team's most valuable player was Niko Lacson who went 8 for 13 with a pair of doubles and triples driving in 13 RBIs. Niko also led the team with most strike outs (18 Ks) in 10 innings during the 4 games. Also contributing in the tournament were Lane Santillan (0.500 AVG, 1.288 OPS), Ethan Wong (0.500 AVG, 1.267 OPS), and Kaleb Majam (0.455 AVG, 1.145 OPS).

Before the tournament, Kearny Mesa finished 3rd in the 9-11 All-Star Saturday team standings, led by the second place finish of Ethan Wong in the Home Run Derby and the third place finish by Georgie Adams in Last Man Standing.

The team was managed by Carleton Hargrove and coached by Tony Majam and KC Leonard.
